This memorial park is dedicated to Kwame Nkrumah, a prominent leader in Ghanaian history. The mausoleum was designed by Don Aurthur and houses Nkrumah’s body and that of his wife, Fathia Nkrumah. The mausoleum is meant to represent an upside down sword, a symbol of peace in the Akan culture. The outside of the mausoleum is plated entirely with Italian marble, with a black star at the apex. The elegant architecture continues inside the mausoleum, which is floored in marble and has marble grave markers surrounded by river rocks. The grave sites are illuminated by a skylight, further emphasizing the beauty of the mausoleum.
