Bunce Island sierra leone

Situated at the crossing of the Rokel River and Port Loko Creek, you’ll need to take a water taxi to this island, which  once served as a post for British slave traders in the 1670s. The island covers an area of over 53,000 square meters, allowing lots of room for visitors to explore and learn about the history of slave trade in Sierra Leone. Walking tours around the ruins are available and typically take one to two hours. Be sure to bring sun protection, food, and plenty of water, as there are no shops or restaurants on the island.
